Kopli 93 Makerspace
The project addresses the non-listed section of the heritage-protected Kopli Community Centre. The silicate-brick garages, constructed during the Soviet period, were partially renovated in early 2022 with municipal funding and have since housed a community repair workshop.
At present, the workshop occupies only half of the garages, which do not meet the needs of the local community and remain unusable during the cold winter months. An additional room in the main building is also in community use, but access to this space will be lost upon the conclusion of the European Union's Centrinno project. The renovation and extension of the repair workshop is therefore necessary to ensure its long-term sustainability.
The design proposes constructive, architectural, interior, and funding strategies for the workshop's expansion, renovation, and long-term use as a community gathering space.
