Koidu Street

The new streetscape, rendered in neutral tones, allows the vivid character of this historic street to shine. Timeless surfaces of local limestone and granite cobble, combined with understated metal street furniture in clean colours, recede into the background, allowing the street to be animated and adorned by its people and their activities.

The design refreshes the appearance of Koidu Street while preserving its playfully eclectic aesthetic. Existing tree species and many self-seeded specimens are retained, around which a contemporary yet familiar urban environment is shaped. Rather than imitating foreign models, the design establishes a new site-specific aesthetic that resonates with local residents, activities, seasons, and materials.
