Las Algas
Las Algas brings seaweed from the water to the land, onto the natural landscape on the western side of Linnahall. Developed through a series of public workshops led by international artists, the pavilion introduces the role of seaweed in both archaic building traditions and emerging material futures. A simple timber frame hosts a series of colourful and textured forms — from Danish eelgrass to Japanese kombu and Estonian brown algae. In addition to showcasing the wide-ranging potential of seaweed as a material, the pavilion also serves as a long-term experiment, testing its durability in the Estonian climate.
