Nõmme farmers’ market is a popular family-oriented local market but its public space was lacking pleasant areas for lingering and play. In the first phase, we introduced a series of light, strategic interventions. These comprised a coordinated approach to small-scale architectural elements such as a seating and play area, planters, benches, movable outdoor furniture, local lighting, and seasonal planting to encourage slower-paced, on-site consumption, distinguished from fast, takeaway-oriented use.

The second phase dealt with improving the central market square for better everyday as well as event use. Leaning into a phased light touch development, the upcoming seasons will focus on providing a dedicated play pavilion and enhancing the entrances for better access and a more inviting public space.
